A blog called listen, dammit enjoyed the Hungry Villagers track “Tree Full of Ghosts.

There’s a bit of a gospel feel in the Hungry Villagers’ folk-rock sound, too, in Abraham’s resonant vocals and the way his brothers blend their voices in harmony. The band’s single, “Tree Full of Ghosts,” has a propulsive backbeat framing strummed acoustic guitar, atmospheric electric guitar and chugging bass. Powerful stuff.

An event listing in the Houston Chronicle on March 26 said “Hungry Villagers make dramatic use of a quiet/loud dynamic with songs that are beautifully ominous and moody. They’re also crafty with tempo, sending their songs into interesting directions.”

Craig Hlavaty of the Houston Press noticed last week that the Villagers are getting some attention from Seattle indie station KEXP.

The fruits of Hungry Villagers’ labors have seemingly paid off. Today, while perusing the concert industry website livedaily.com, we saw the Houston indie-pop group has today’s free download of the day, new track “Tree Full Of Ghosts.” Further investigation led us to the music blog for influential Seattle indie station KEXP 90.3 FM championing the band, describing them as a “burst of hope and fresh spring air.”

Thanks for keeping folks updated, Craig!

A couple of posts about us in the blogosphere:

One of the prizes in Culture Bully’s March Madness Giveaway is a copy of our Little Fingers single. Check it out!

The blog Ramblings on Music, Texas, Etc. has this to say: “I have to admit I’m a bit late to this party, but I like what I hear so far from this band.”

Little Fingers is officially available to buy, strait from us, or on iTunes. We’re really thrilled at some of the things people are saying.

Aleisha4 on iTunes wrote a nice review: “these guys are gonna be everywhere in no time. trust me, you don’t wanna miss out.”

Sunna on iTunes says: “definitely the band I’m most interested in seeing blow up in the next few months.”

Kewlmusik is featuring Tree Full of Ghosts and says “great bass and vocals and I love how the song ends.”

Duck & Cover writes “Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t blown up by now. Maybe it’s early. Maybe it’s the time of year.”

Thanks everyone!

We’re really happy and humbled by a post on Shelves of Vinyl from yesterday about our music.

Their lush and foreboding sound captured my heart and quickened my pulse immediately. A combination of so many sounds I hold dear in a year of music that has not really found its pace yet-they stand out as a shining beacon of beautiful creations occurring despite the recession, friends and family losing jobs, chaos abroad and a winter that ceases to release us from its’ grasp. Listening to the Hungry Villagers is to release a burst of hope and fresh spring air.

Thank you so much!

We’re so happy to be seeing our name pop up on blogs around the country, and even some in Europe! Thanks so much to all the bloggers who are writing about us. We’d like to give you a shout out.
